December 2004

We haven't gotten out much this month for one reason or another and when we did, I kept forgetting the camera.  I did get a few interesting shots though.

The week of Christmas the temps plummeted.  They had been in the teens to single digits above zero for a couple of weeks. It dropped to 30 below the Tuesday before Christmas-the night we were invited to a party. There weren't any no-shows and all had a good time.  It's good to share the adventure with other hardy souls and good people.

We awoke Christmas morning to the sound of the wind pounding against the building and we were being rocked in our bed.  Further examination revealed visibility about 15 feet, ice in the dryer vent and the clothes we had left there, and a snow drift that had blown in under the "sealed" door in the closed in entryway.  The storm continued until about 7pm.  Cathy lost heat in her house and her and Gary's brother walked across town to Ester's apartment during the height of the blizzard.  She said it took about 30 minutes and when they passed the grocery there was a 30 foot snow drift in front of it.

We definitely had a white Christmas.
