We took a ride Saturday January 29th to Willow, a town approximately 90 miles north of our house in Anchorage. There was a winter festival going on complete with craft fair, snowshoe races, cross country ski races, and of course, dog sled races.
Since Christy and Mike were off Monday and Tuesday we decided to make the little over 200 mile drive to Homer to spend the night. Homer is at the end of the highway going down the Kenai Peninsula. It is a bit of an artsy town in addition to being what is touted as the best fishing destination in Alaska. There was winter King Salmon charters and fishing going on but we decided it was just too cold to go out on a boat.
The drive was down the Seward Highway which at any time of the year is one of the prettiest drives in the state.
During the winter it is breathtaking.
Of course I had to take some pictures of the inside of the house which is an ongoing work in progress. We do what we can when we travel down to Anchorage. The china cabinet was Patty's Christmas present. We also got to set a nice dinner table one night.
Here are a few pictures of things of interest in Anchorage.
The wait at the Anchorage Airport and Cathy scarf's up a treat of McDonalds hamburgers.
