We flew from Anchorage to Frankfurt Germany on 8/14. It was a 9 hour flight on a Condor Air 767 (part of Lufthansa). We flew out of Frankfurt for London about 3 hours after we arrived on a British Airways jet. While checking in with British Air in Frankfurt we were told the food service folks that supply food to their planes were on strike. They issued us food tickets to eat in the food court at the airport and our first meal in Europe was believe it or not-McDonalds.
We spent a few days touring London and loved it. It is a bit pricy but the reason we left early was because the hotel we booked-who advertised air conditioned rooms-actually shut of the A/C from 11pm until 7am. London was unusually warm and humid while we were there. We would go to bed at 10pm at a comfortable 68 degrees and wake up at 2am with it being 80 degrees and humid in the room. The two windows only opened about 6 inches. If you are interested it was the London Guards Hotel.
Tim came to London for a day's business and we hopped the Chunnel that day and traveled to Paris with him.
