You know I have never been great at picking up the phone and we kind of drifted off into our own lives. Now I stay in touch with people by email primarily. Since we had so many email addresses people wanted us to write to, we set up the web site to share pictures and info. Every week or two I try to write a bit of a generic update of what's going on and copy it to everyone's email. That's what you got today. I check my email daily now whereas when we lived there, I checked it maybe once a month. Now that I have a contact to you we will keep in touch. By the way our phone number is 907-442-2676. Our address is PO box 1078 Kotzebue, AK 99752. We really don't have a physical address. We go to the post office every day to pick up mail. Just remember we are 3 hours earlier than you. So if it is noon there it is 9am here. For that matter I don't have your phone number or address.
As for coming back there, I don't see us ever moving back. Maybe we will come for a visit sometime but we really like it here. You are always welcome to visit although the airfare may be steep, but you will have a place to stay and transportation. We love Alaska and I like this small town stuff. It's really cool. We may not stay in Kotzebue forever, but somewhere in Alaska. I'm off today so I got up about 7am, checked my emails and sent out some replies. I Got dressed then hopped on my 4 wheeler and went to the firehall for some coffee-it's always fresh. BS'd a while then rode to the back bay and fished for about 45 mins. Damned fish are still eluding me. Rode back to the front street on the sound and had breakfast at the hotel with some tourists. Stopped at the grocery and bank then came home, checked my email-this is where I am now, at 1130 am, and when I am done here I plan to read the newspaper I picked up (it's today's too, the planes are coming in) then take a nap. When I get up; who knows? I will probably wash clothes but I am thinking of going scavenging on the beach. What would I be doing there? Sitting watching TV or god knows what.
As for staying warm-not necessary right now but believe me we have the clothes. The lowest it has gotten since we arrived in March is 17 below. Did I mention we arrived the same day as a blizzard? The last couple of weeks though have been like fall there. Beautiful. We have local handmade fur hats being made for the winter. Yesterday I got a deal on 2 Lynx and one beaver skin. Yep, we're going native.
Oh well, enough for now. Take care and tell the folks hi. If anyone is interested the web site it www.samsicles.net and our email is carlo@samsicles.net tell them to check it out. Lots of pictures.
Take care,
Carlo
