April usually brings warmer temps and longer, prettier days. This is the time to start getting out and enjoying what the arctic has to offer..
We did get out and try our luck at catching some sheefish but only the little tom cod would cooperate.
April is a busy month with the aforementioned warmer temps and longer days. This month Kotzebue hosts the Kobuk 440 mile dogsled race and the Archie Ferguson/Willie Goodwin snowmachine race as well as spring dogsled races on the weekends.
The Archie Ferguson/Willie Goodwin Snowmachine race took place on the seventh. As usual we staged with the Fire Department about 8 miles out on the ice in case of emergency.
I traveled to the village of Shungnak this month to spend some time at the clinic.
