We had bought and sold a house in Anchorage since we came to Alaska. Our reasons for selling were many and varied. Since we sold that house we have been in turmoil as to where to buy next. We plan to stay in Alaska but there are so many beautiful places in this state we just could not decide. After Patty did the taxes this year we decided it was time to buy. Both kids live in Anchorage and Anchorage is the hub for the state so we decided to buy there once again.
the kids did a lot of looking and on Patty's trips to Anchorage she did some too. Both of us traveled down on a recruiting trip in early March and while there looked at homes. Our agent was showing a house that the kids had seen and loved but it was out of our price range. Patty and I needed to speak with the agent so we went to see him in that house. When we walked in and saw the views-180 degree unobstructed views of the mountains surrounding Anchorage, coupled with the fact that behind the house was a bog/green belt that would not be built on so the view would not go away-we looked at each other and said-"this is it".
You cannot get views like this in Anchorage or I would venture to guess many other places either.
First I just have to post pictures of the views from outside and inside the house.
These photos were taken by Patty on one of her recruiting trips and were taken before we took possession. I post these because they are the best views we have taken of the outside of the house.
The act of sale was 3/27 and we took possession Friday 3/28. Patty and I flew in Friday evening and spent the week down there. Patty did have to attend a recruiting function three days of it but pretty much every minute was spent moving in. The snow had pretty much melted by the end of the week but that Friday and Saturday it really came down coating everything in a beautiful soft, white, blanket.
