That is and indoor and outdoor thermometer so it was 14 degrees outside and warm and toasty inside.  The heat is supplied by hot water flowing through registers all along the baseboards.  It is quite comfortable. The temps outside are now staying just below freezing for the high and all the water is freezing up. It is beautiful out there.

Nope, I didn't kill those animals.  The natives here trap them and use the furs for extra income, meat, and to use for clothing.  Life in the arctic is harsh and survival is the main concern.  The natives have been doing this since time began I suppose.  So, to you bunny huggers out there I say "put down your fork and think about the poor cow that gave up that steak", or go outside and give a proper burial to your Nike's!  Ok, I'm off my soap box now.  I now have three lynx, one I am going to give to Christy and one to my stepmother in-law for Christmas, one fox, one beaver, one wolf, and one wolverine.  The natives use the furs for hats as you saw in the pics, and they also make mukluks-boots, parkies-a deep winter version of the otikluk Patty was wearing in on of the summer fun pics that has fur around the cuffs, the bottom rim and along the hood, coats, gloves, slippers, art, and you name it.  Here the ruffs around the hood serves a dual purpose. One, the fur is there so as the wind ruffles the fur, no ice will form and stick to it.  The other is beauty.  If you look at the pics from the fourth of July you will see some of the coats, parkies, and other fur items.  They make what is called sunrise ruffs especially with wolverine.  The claws hang on either side on the shoulders and the fur stands up when the hood is up-like the sunrise.  When down it forms a large, fluffy, beautiful rim around the back of the head and neck.  So I am supporting the native subsistence lifestyle.  I literally work for them I suppose as the furs are not cheap, although a lot cheaper than anywhere else.  I also bought a premade ruff made out of grey wolf because I am going to try to get a parkey made for Patty for Christmas and I may use the furs you saw for other items of clothing.  I gotta tell you the hats are WARM, and up here that's kinda important you know!
