Hey Dr C,
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner but we just flew in today from a two week trip over Thanksgiving. We flew to New York to spend some time with Patty's sister and our brother in law. He paid for the tickets so you know-an offer we couldn't refuse. We spent a couple of days in the city then went to the country "cabin". A three story, four bedroom, four full baths, fully furnished even down to the expensive cookware, bed linens, copper trim and bolts holding it together, pool, Jacuzzi.....hell, everything. Patty and I stayed outside in the guest "Cottage". In other words about a 1.5 million dollar house they are renting from a corporate lawyer who built it and is now living in Paris. It is located in up state New York. We then spent a couple of days in DC then came home. My daughter Cathy turned 21 while we were there and we went out to a trendy New York rest in Manhattan and for 8 of us the bill was around a thousand dollars.
Good to hear from you and glad you and the family got to spend Thanksgiving together. The smores sound good too! 50's huh? When we arrived here this morning the temp was minus 20. It has warmed up though as it is now minus 9 at 7pm. No, I don't mind you sharing the stories or the site with anyone. I find it flattering that people take the time to read my letters and share it with others, it is an honor.
As for the smoked turkey-we didn't have it either. We looked at smokers when we were in Anchorage but the thought of trying to smoke a turkey with snow on the ground and the ambient temp in the negatives-it just did not seem a good idea.
Well tell the folks at work hello and Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and the same to you and yours.
Carlo
