Hey Yall,

Thanks for the e-card it is more true than you can imagine.  Yesterday we were going around town to all three stores to finish up our Christmas dinner shopping. (We are going to have an open house Christmas day with a turkey, ham, pumpkin and pecan pies, and jambalaya, and anyone who comes brings a dish.)  While we were riding the temps were about negative 3.  I turned to Patty and told her it felt like he was chewing on my nose, cheeks, eyes and slapping at my frozen face to boot.  You have to realize this was before I read your card so it was quite fitting.   It's just like there I guess, the ambient temp is not always what it feels like.  Some days I go out when it is in the negatives with the sun out and no wind and it is quite comfortable.  Yesterday it was overcast with a bit of a breeze.  The humidity had to be up and it was a penetrating cold.  It is beautiful though.  Kotzebue doesn't get a lot of snow if you look at the charts. We got a lot in the three blizzards we had but most of the time when it snows it is a light flurry.  Saturday night though it snowed about six inches overnight with no wind.  This is dry snow as the temps are in the low single digits or the negatives so it is easy to brush off.  It was beautiful out (of course it was dark) and when I got to work I had to stand there at the entrance and just look out at it for a couple of minutes.  The snow on the ground had sparkles in it, a reflection from the artificial lights and the snow was drifting soundlessly to the ground.  It was above zero and I could have stood there for a long time just awed by what I was seeing.  During the day we got about another six inches and if you looked out at the parked vehicles or anything covered with snow, they looked like a work of art.   As I have said probably a hundred times before-we like it here. However the job sometimes leaves something to be desired as is probably the case everywhere.  Perhaps job is the wrong term as I like working with the people, maybe company would be a better term.

Christy is flying up for the first time on December 30th and will be here for New Years.  New Years eve there will be a snowmachine race at midnight on the sound followed by fireworks.  It ought to be interesting.

Oh well, tell everyone there Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and believe it or not, I do think about them (if anyone I know is still there).
