Hey Ya'll,
Good to hear from you. I really did not sign a so called "contract". What happened was they paid around $5,500-$6,000 to move us up here. We can leave at any time but if we leave before one year we owe all the fees back. If we leave between one and two years we owe half. After two years we owe nothing and after three they will pay our way back to our starting destination. I kept my options open on coming here and if I decide tomorrow to leave and go to work in Anchorage, the hospital Christy works at will pay $12,000 in moving fees and bonus. All I have to do is pick up the phone. So in reality we can leave any time we want. Sorry, I am not bragging. As far as coming back to Louisiana--I don't think we will ever move back. We like this and so far like it here. It is almost as if we had to break a heavy chain to get at something we had always dreamed of and now we just can't get enough. Will we stay here in Kotzebue the rest of our lives? Probably not, but I do not see us leaving here anytime soon. We now have a taste of freedom and who knows where it will lead in the future. We will eventually come back for a visit although it is not in the plans right now. There is to much to see on this side of the world. If and/or when we do come to Louisiana to visit you will be seeing our sorry faces whether you want to or not.
Take care all,
Carlo
